Discover Paradise on the California Coast
Imagine the most beautiful place you can picture. Would the ocean play a part? How about seven miles of beaches? What about four miles of paved walking paths? What about near perfect weather?
Where can you find all this and more? On the colorful California Coast! What could make the picture even better? Put a “Sold” sign on the home of your dreams!
People come from around the world to discover the California experience for themselves. Many come to Carlsbad State Beach (also known as Tamarack Beach). Here they can find surfing, swimming, fishing, scuba diving and enough sandy beaches to perfect that elusive tan!
Whether you like to cycle or walk the beaches with a metal detector, the California Coast offers something for everyone. There are plenty of things to do off the beach as well. For example, you can make a day of it and visit the Museum of Making Music that focuses on everything related to the musician’s world. They often hold concerts that feature both popular and global music.
If you want some outdoor activities that don’t involve sand, be sure to pack your skateboard. Carlsbad Skate Park is a 15,000 square foot experience that mixes the best of street and small transition boarding. It is open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm every day.
If a skate board isn’t fast enough for you, consider spending an afternoon at K1 Speed. This 60,000 square foot indoor go-kart track is the longest on the west coast. These are not timid little buggies! They are 20 horse power monsters that hold the lane! Prices and hours vary so it is best to call ahead.
The Gemological Institute of America is a great museum filled with crystals and rocks. The talented staff will teach the whole family about jewels and crystals and keep everyone in rapt attention!
There are plenty of special events through the year as well. For example, you can attend the annual Oktoberfest held on the third Sunday in September in Encinitas. There is also a Poinsettia Festival held each November in Encinitas’ downtown.
There are lovely flowers all around the California Coast, but none more beautiful than those found at the San Diego Botanic Gardens. Opened in 2009, this amazing floral celebration fills 37 acres of tropical rain forests!
No matter where you go on the California Coast you are sure to find things of interest! What are you waiting for? Now is a great time to see all that this paradise has to offer!
